If I Were in Charge of the World

(a form change poem with thanks to Judith Viorst)

 

If I were in charge of the world, I’d cancel school, cars, and also science.

If I were in charge of the world,

There would be more horses, more friends, and lots of snow.

If I were in charge of the world,

You wouldn’t have school,

You wouldn’t have science,

And you wouldn’t have sin.

If I were in charge of the world, I would have a lot of mac and cheese, and it would be a balanced meal.

All people would be my friends.

And a person who is a good friend and has lots of friends like me

Would be allowed to be

In charge of the world.

You can make brownies.  First, you put the flour in the bowl.  Second, you put the butter in.  Third, you put the eggs in.  Fourth, you put the chocolate in.  Fifth, you put it in the oven and wait until it rings.  Sixth, you take it out and cut it.  Seventh, you put it on a plate and give it to your friends!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

 

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed his spider web.

Down swept a bird

That knocked him right out!

When he woke up,

He ran right back down.

Then he changed his plan

To make a different web!
